Dr. Roberts has years of experience working with cognitive behavioral therapies and teaches these modalities at NYU. By combining her knowledge of cognitive behavioral interventions along with insight-oriented modalities, Dr. Roberts has created a modality called Insight-oriented Cognitive and Behavioral Transformational Therapy (ICBTT) which combines the efficacy of CBT but with additional skills sets that provide immediate relief and long-standing change.
Our brains have the ability to change patterns of functioning. However, most patients don't have the education and understanding on how to use one's neurology and psychology to create long-lasting change. While awareness of the interpersonal blockages we experience is necessary for change, awareness can only go so far. Patients need more than insight and awareness. Patients need evidence-based strategies to help them move from old dysfunctional patterns to new healthy and creative patterns that leads to the changes patients desire. Patients don't often understand how they may invariably be creating some of their own dysfunction in their lives.
